The shape of the Monsaraz chair derives from the traditional kneading troughs made of wooden planks. The remaining geometry of the chair is a result of ergonomy and the relationship between the seat, the back and the arm. Its creator, Carlos Aguiar, is one of the most prolific and awarded Portuguese designers, though far from the shallow public spotlight of our times. The name Monsaraz comes from the intention of using different Portuguese textiles for the upholstery, such as the Monsaraz blankets. Good design is true.
